6-8 Technology Applications Video Introduction
Junior High:
Beginning with the 2008–2009 school year, Magnolia Independent School District will be offering a new, one semester Technology Applications course. This Technology Applications class will reinforce and teach basic, essential skills for today’s learners so that they may have a successful transition into both high school and college academic programs. The curriculum will include the use of input devices such as digital cameras and scanners as well as other topics such as Internet safety, Internet search strategies, and web publishing. Students will also learn keyboarding skills so that they can meet the current minimum requirements set by the district.

The district understands that in order to prepare students for entering the global collaborative, they must not only know what the tools are but also how to use them in productive, positive ways. Let's take a moment to listen to some students and teachers as they talk about the course, and then we will take a look at some students in action as they create.

Charlie: Maybe not a question, but a testimony -- "I love computers, but I would really like to know more about cameras and making videos. This class is perfect for that."

Input Devices - Scanners - Web Cams - Tablets - Charlie had the idea that we take time to focus on Global Collaboration - I think that instead of just focusing on an input device like a webcam - show kids collaborating with others through the input device like the webcam.
